The kitchen is said to be the most difficult room to pack. This is because the kitchen is filled with lots of fragile items and packing them for a move can be very stressful. You need to pack like a pro to protect each item and prevent damage during the process of moving.
Fragile items are items that can easily be damaged or broken. Many household items are fragile in nature and when you need to move, you need to take special care in packing them to ensure that they do not get damaged during the move. Simply labeling the boxes fragile will not protect the fragile items inside the boxes.

- Sort your kitchen and household items

The same rule applies to every other household item. It just might be easier and cheaper for you to buy a new one when you get to your new home because of the special care and cost that comes with moving them. So, go through your fragile items and determine which ones you have to move with.
When you have sorted out your items, you can sell the items that are still in good working conditions. Selling them helps you raise the money for another one when you get to your new home. You can give out the others to charity or to family and friends. This saves the stress and cost of moving items that you’ll end up not using in your new home.
- Get quality moving materials
The kitchen items are very delicate. This makes it important for you to get a quality moving supplies for packing them. Take time to get yourself quality moving boxes, wrapping papers, bubble wraps, packing papers, tapes, and markers. These are the things you’ll need to pack your fragile items, kitchen wares, and appliances.
- Boxing kitchen appliances
Kitchen appliances come in a range of sizes and it is important to protect them. If you still have the boxes they came in when you purchased them then use those boxes. These boxes were designed by the producers to protect these items. If you don’t have them then it’s advisable to use medium-sized boxes. Do not stuff boxes with too many items because they become difficult to move when loading.
When putting the appliances in moving boxes, you can cushion the boxes with bubble wraps or packing paper for extra protection especially of the appliances are delicate items. When placed in the box, tape the top of the box and any other side necessary to tape then label appropriately.
- Plates and glasses
For plates, there are plate boxes specially made for them. These boxes come with cells for each plate to ensure that they are protected during the move. Plate boxes are easy to find. If however, you don’t find moving boxes, get packing papers or bubble wraps, and use regular boxes. Cushion the boxes with packing papers and wrap each plate with bubble wrap to prevent damage. Use the same style for glasses. Wrap them individually. You can use tapes to fasten the bubble wrap to each item to ensure that it stays intact throughout your move. When you are done packing the box, ensure to tape it and label it appropriately.
- Pots and pans
For pots and pans use medium-sized boxes. Medium-sized boxes are advisable because they are easy to pack and move. Ensure that the boxes you get are sturdy ones. You’ll need to stack the pots in the box. When stacking your pots, put packing papers in between the pots to provide a form of protection for them. Cushion the boxes with moving papers, old towels, or old clothes to ensure that the pots are stable during.
- Television
Packing televisions can be tricky because they come in different shapes and sizes. If you still have the box you bought it in, then it makes it easy for you to pack it in that box. There are also special television moving boxes available. They are flat paneled boxes and they come in different shapes and sizes to suit different sizes of televisions available. Where you cannot get any box to suit your television, get regular boxes. Wrap the television in bubble wrap and tape it to fasten it. Cushion the box with packing paper and place the wrapped television inside the box. Fill any excess space with packing paper t ensure that the television does not move inside the box when your items are in transit.
- Picture frames and mirrors
There are special boxes used to move fragile items like mirrors, picture frames, and glass tops. These items should be secured with packing paper before placing them in the moving boxes. When placing more than one in a box, ensure to put packing papers or bubble wraps in between the two of them to avoid collision during the move. Place old towels or extra packing papers in any extra space in the box to ensure that the items don’t move around in the box.
- Lamps
For small and medium-sized lamps, you can use regular moving boxes to pack them. Just ensure you wrap each lamp with a bubble wrap and tape the bubble wrap to the lamp to be extra careful. For tall floor lamps, however, you will need special lamp boxes because of the special nature of their length. Thankfully, these boxes are available. They are tall boxes that protects your lamps efficiently during the move.
