You can also donate these moving boxes. Ask around for people in need of moving boxes or local organisations that need them. This can even give you the opportunity to meet people from your new community. There will always be people that could use free cardboard boxes. Community centres around or local businesses could use them for storage. Schools or churches around you could put them to good use for things like art projects or storage.

There are a lot of creative ideas for DIY projects for leftover cardboard boxes. Some are practical projects for your home while others are just artistic for decoration. We have come up with a list. Take out time to relax and enjoy doing them.

  1. DIY insulation:  Moving boxes are made from cardboard and cardboard is great for DIY insulation. This is not to state that cardboards are not replacements for actual foam insulation in your home, cardboards still very useful.  What makes cardboards good for insulation is the air trapped between the two outer layers of cardboard. If you have an attic or storage in your home, cardboards can be used to line the walls. It helps prevent extreme temperatures and make your home a little more energy-efficient. This can be a fun project for you and your family.
  2. Door labels:  If you stay in an apartment building, then you can cut some boxes and use them to label your apartment number at your door. Some buildings do not have numbers and it will be a good way for your visitors to identify your apartment. If your home is not an apartment building, you can use these boxes to label the rooms in your house. Design them and place them on the door post of each room. If you do not want to label doors, you can just decorate them and place them on doors. This can be something your children do as fun project to pass time in their new home
  3. Picture frames: Moving boxes can be designed to become picture frames. Just check the internet for a couple of DIY tutorial videos. These videos will help you transform basic boxes into beautiful frames that can be used for yourself and even be given as gifts to family and friends.
  4. Mirror frames: Boxes can be cut and designed to any shape for your mirror frames. Just cut it to suit the shape of your mirror and then get stickers and fancy things to design the box. Ensure to have fun while at it.
  5. Storage boxes: All you need to do is design the boxes to revamp the boxes and then they become fancy boxes for storing things such as magazines and random household items.
