Just make sure you move with only essentials.

  1. Have your packing supplies

There are certain supplies you need to move your shoes. You’ll need to get them. Use large strong boxes, socks to stuff the shoes, packing papers, markers, and packing tapes.

  1. Clean the shoes

Generally, when you have to move anything, it makes sense to clean it. You should not get to your new house and have to unpack dirty things. Cleaning things from your old house should not be part of your settling in the plan. It is important to clean your shoes before you move. Ensure that the shoes are not damp before you pack them. If they are not dry before you pack them, mold might develop on the shoes while they are being moved.

  1. Keep your shoes fresh

After cleaning your shoes, you can also air-dry them and then spray the shoes with antibacterial spray or use alcohol to rub the shoes before packing them. You can also place unused tea bags inside the shoes before packing them. You should do this before stuffing the shoes with materials. Attach the unused teabags to the material and place it in the shoe or place the teabag in the shoe before placing the material for stuffing inside the shoe. These things help to keep your shoes fresh when you are ready to unpack them in your new home.

  1. Stuff the shoes

To help protect your shoes during the move, you will need to stuff each shoe with socks or any soft material. This will protect your shoes and prevent smashing during the move. If you don’t have socks to use or you cannot use any material, then you have the option of using packing papers or plastic wraps. This helps to keep your shoes in their natural shape. After stuffing the shoes, you may wish to wrap each shoe with wrapping paper for further protection.

  1. Group your shoes by type

Go through your shoes and sort them according to their category, type, and size. This will help make packing the shoes easier. Packing shoes according to size is a good plan because it makes sense for you to put shoes of the same size in the same box. Putting big shoes on top of small shoes might damage the small shoes. If you have to put all the shoes in the same box, ensure to put the big shoes at the bottom of the box and the small ones on top.

  1. Wrap the shoes

When you need to place the shoes in the box, you can wrap the shoes with either moving papers or bubble wrap. When wrapping the shoes, take special care in wrapping shoes with heels and buckles. Do not use plastic bags to wrap your shoes. Plastic bags can rip off during the process of moving the shoes.

  1. Tie sneakers together by their laces

For sneakers, keep pairs together by tying their laces together. This way, you might not need to place them in boxes if you don’t have extra for them. Also, if it makes it easy for you to pick them up when you are unpacking.

  1. Box pairs individually

If you have the original boxes for some of your shoes, then you can use them to pack your shoes. Where the shoes are expensive, you’ll need to protect them and so it’s good to use individual boxes. If you do not have the original boxes, you can get small individual boxes for your shoes.

  1. Put the shoes in boxes

For other shoes that are not too delicate or that you are too concerned about, you can box them all up in a strong moving box. Ensure to place the larger and stronger shoes at the bottom of the box and then put the more delicate ones at the top. Avoid using plastic bags to pack your shoes they are not advisable because plastic bags can rip because of the weight of the shoes or because of shoes with heels or buckles.  If you do not have a spare moving box, you can use baskets to move your shoes. Baskets can do the same work of protecting your shoes and making sure that they are not pressed during the process of the move.
